What we do

Full Spectrum Birthing Support

While there’s not yet a cohesive definition for this work, the general understanding is that a ‘full spectrum doula’ provides doula support for all pregnancy outcomes. This includes Home and hospital birth with a healthy mother and newborn, adoption, miscarriage, stillbirth, and abortion. Often the definition also includes services for the full spectrum of populations, such as working with families that come from multiple barrier backgrounds including those who have experienced homelessness, survivors of abuse/assault, and teens.

Woman-centered Family Care

The women's health movement that evolved from second-wave feminism called for a woman-centered model of health care based on feminist ethics. Woman-centered care models seek to provide holistic health care approaches that empower women and acknowledge the relational needs and social stresses impacting women's experiences. Ideally, the woman is an active participant in making informed choices for herself and her family.

Community-based Resources

We believe that helping you and your baby takes a village and make sure the professionals that we refer to are community-based resources that we know, trust and use ourselves. It’s important to us that you feel comfortable with your choices and we look forward to working with you to create the birthing atmosphere you deserve.

Breastfeeding and Postpartum Support

We love our breastfeeding and postpartum mothers and we like to know that they are in good hands. We know the best postpartum Doulas in Vancouver and can assist with breastfeeding support, nighttime parenting issues and postpartum nutrition. We look forward to helping you and your family relax and grow into your new life together.

Holistic Birth Community offers prenatal visits, belly casting, full spectrum birthing accompaniment, birthing, breastfeeding and postpartum support as well as community resources and a lending library for clients.

We welcome and look forward to working with members of the LGBTTIQQ2SA community.
